Batteries Needed!

Attention Attention Attention!

Our class is in need of some 9V batteries.  If you have one or two laying around, would you please send them with your student if you don’t mind?  I failed to look ahead far enough and therefore didn’t get them ordered on time.  If you don’t have any or don’t want to send them in, no big deal.

Thanks for the help

Electricity Self-Assessments and Test Corrections

DO NOW:
pick up your test and begin working on the self-assessment.

Homework:
Test corrections on this and other tests.

Today in Class:
Students will be taking a time out from the rigors of learning about electricity and magnetism for the day so that we can collect our heads around the recent test.  We are winding down to the end of the year so it is imperative that students are taking care of their business on test corrections and re-takes.  If students needs help with these two processes, they should come and see me.

Electricity Test

Learning Target:
92324 – explain and calculate current, voltage, and resistance and explain energy transfers in simple electric circuits

Today in Class:
Students will be taking the electricity test today – we only have one (maybe two more) standards for the entire year.  We are really winding down now.  Stay focused and motivated.  We need to finish out the year on a great note!

Review for the Electricity Test

Learning Target:
92324 – explain and calculate current, voltage, and resistance and explain energy transfers in simple electric circuits

DO NOW:
Take out your circuit lab and practice test

HOMEWORK:
Study for the Test – ALL CLASSES WILL TAKE THE TEST ON MONDAY

Today in Class:
Students will be reviewing for the test in class today.  It is imperative that students utilize this review day to prepare for the test.  I will not be available on Monday morning for last minute help or review.  Students should study the practice test and circuit lab this weekend in order to adequately prepare for the test.

Energy Transfers

Learning Target:
92324 – explain energy transfers in simple electric circuits

DO NOW:
Take out your circuit lab and practice test

Homework:
Study for your test

Today in Class:
Students will continue working on their electricity standard; however, we will be shifting focus a bit as we gather today.  I previously told students that they would have through Thursday to work on the lab; in order to improve efficiency and keep frustration and idleness at bay, we’ll be finishing up the lab as a class using the PHET simulation (you can download and run the activity below).  This simulation is a great way to visualize what is happening to the electrons and flow of charge.  While it might not be as cool as making our own real circuits, this is better in some ways.
