Slow and steady wins the race. From the Apollo 1 fire to Apollo 11′s moon landing, NASA works the problems. There were many problems to solve. When the Eagle finally lands on the moon, the race is over. Did we really do it? If not, the Soviets would have been the first to cry foul.

Grissom, White and Chaffe loose their lives because NASA personel made poor decisions. Gene Kranz said it was their fault. Almost 45 years ago today, 3 astronauts lost their lives.

What a marvel it was to have Gemini 7 and 6 get within inches in space. 270 minutes, or three orbits, these two capsules could almost reach out and touch each other. We finally beat the Soviets at something in space. After figuring out how to do EVA’s, docking and rendezvous, the U.S. is now ready to venture to the moon.
